Welcome to Of Dollars And Data!
Hello there, I’m Nick Maggiulli (pronounced Ma-Julie), the Chief Operating Officer at Ritholtz Wealth Management and the creator of Of Dollars And Data, a personal finance blog that I publish weekly. Click here to learn more about my newsletter.

How My Blog Will Help You
The goal of my work on Of Dollars And Data is to help you make better financial decisions using the best information available. Ultimately, I want you to live a smarter, richer life. As a result, this blog will cover ideas such as:
- What to expect from financial markets
- How to think about risk
- How to time investment purchases
- How to find good information and ignore bad information
- How to organize and manage your finances
- The best ways to increase your long-term wealth
And much, much more.
Though the ideas presented on this blog won’t revolutionize finance, they will provide you with a different perspective on money that you can use in your everyday life. I am sure of this because of the hundreds of hours of research that went into the more than 200,000 words currently published on this blog.
A few things about me:
- Grew up in Southern California
- Graduated from Stanford University with a degree in Economics
- Currently residing in New York City
I started Of Dollars And Data as a New Year’s Resolution while I was living in Boston at the beginning of 2017. At the time, I had a great job in litigation consulting, but I wanted to do something more. My heart wasn’t in litigation consulting, it was in personal finance and investing.
So, I made a promise to myself that I would publish one blog post every week while I figured out what to do with my career. Over the course of my first year blogging, this was a difficult promise to keep, but I somehow stuck to it. And, as my writing got better, a whole new world opened up to me.
I quickly found myself meeting some of the most incredible people in the financial industry both on Twitter and in person. Through this process of writing online and meeting people in the financial community, I landed my current role at Ritholtz Wealth Management. In April 2018, I moved to New York City and haven’t looked back.
